The Sweet Sounds of September, Part Four

Live music is exploding all through downtown Manhattan, as increasing numbers of New Yorkers come out of their COVID-era cocoons to enjoy the joyful sounds that temporarily erase the stresses of life. In parks, sidewalk cafes, and a few non-traditional settings, local musicians are drawing from a handful to more than 100 listeners, most of whom are masked and reasonably-distanced. In most cases, the music is performed outdoors and is free to enjoy, but the musicians encourage you to drop a few dollars into their tip buckets. Here are some of the musicians who are worth your time and financial support.

These 10 performance were the highlights among the many musical events that happened in the Lower East Side of Manhattan on Saturday, September 19.

The Meetles played pop oldies in Tompkins Square Park
Lollise sang urban pop as part of the Inspire Change Festival in Tompkins Square Park
Kazinak performed pop from Belarus at the Inspire Change Festival in Tompkins Square Park
Anant Pradhan played reggae in the Inspire Change Festival in Tompkins Square Park
Pinc Louds played indie-rock outside the Abrons Arts Center
Rob Mastrianni played instrumental guitar at Marshall Stack
A trio played modern pop hits at Drom
The Typsy Gypsy Girls sang and danced to world music at Nomad
Jim Flynn and Shaheem Malick played psychedelic classical music on St. Mark's Place
Piers Lawrence and Ron Thompson played jazz outside David's Cafe
