The 2025 Global Citizen Festival gathered 60,000 global citizens on the Great Lawn in Central Park on September 27, after taking a record-breaking 4.3 million actions, for a day of music and impact. The flagship event from Global Citizen, the world’s largest movement to end extreme poverty, mobilized $280 million in commitments to protect 25 million hectares of the Amazon rain forest; over $30 million raised for access to education and sports for children in over 200 communities worldwide through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund; and clean energy access provided to 4.6 million homes across Africa.

The 2025 Global Citizen Festival campaign generated commitments from world leaders and raised funds for projects. These projects include clean energy for 4.6 million homes in Africa; $280 million to protect 25 million hectares of the Amazon; and over $30 million for access to education in partnership with FIFA. Next, the Global Citizen campaign heads to Belém, Brazil and the G20 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Global Citizen Festival is about the collective impact of our artists, global citizens, private sector leaders, and government officials to defeat extreme poverty. Together, this year’s campaign has broken all action-taking records,” said Hugh Evans, Co-Founder and CEO, Global Citizen. “We’re proud to celebrate the achievements of this evening, but the work to end extreme poverty doesn’t stop here. As our movement grows, from Central Park to the Amazon Basin and the G20, Global Citizen will continue to drive action towards achieving our mission.”

Global citizens earned tickets to the one-day festival by volunteering for community service actions. Attendees took a record-breaking 4.3 million actions to defeat poverty and defend the planet.

Shakira, Cardi B (replacing the Weeknd), Rosé, Tyla, Rema, Ayra Starr, Mariah the Scientist, Camilo and Elyanna performed at Global Citizen Festival 2025. Australian actor and singer Hugh Jackson served as host for the sixth time. Bill Nye, Adam Lambert, Danai Gurira, and Liza Koshy co-hosted. Kristen Bell, Tony Goldwyn, Laurie Hernandez, Nate Burleson and Vladimir Duthiers were among the speakers.

The ceremonial movement Solstice Unites started the festivities honoring the land and the ancestral stewards of the festival grounds with a Global Powwow; they passed the torch to Indigenous leaders in Brazil for the upcoming Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia in Belém on November 1. Fogo Azul, a women-led samba reggae marching band, performed a drum line performance.
