Chris Thile welcomed
guests the Pixies, the Black Pumas, Freestyle Love Supreme, Aoife
O'Donovan, Crooked Still, and
comedian Tom Papa to his live radio broadcast
of Live from Here with Chris Thile at
the Town Hall on December 7, 2019.
Chris Thile, a vocalist and mandolin player in Nickel Creek and the Punch Brothers, became the host of the A Prairie Home Companion radio broadcast
in October 2016. Thile replaced Garrison
Keillor, who created the live weekly broadcast in 1974 and hosted it until July
2016. In December 2017, A Prairie Home
Companion with Chris Thile was renamed Live
from Here with Chris Thile, and continued the format of showcasing folk and
traditional musicians, tongue-in-cheek radio drama, and light humor. The two-hour
program airs on Saturday evenings, usually in front of a live audience. The
show's 2019-2020 home base is the Town Hall in New York City, but periodically
tours to other cities in the United States. Live
from Here is the only live music and variety show aired nationwide.
Live from Here is
produced by American Public Media. Audio and video clips, along with scripts,
photos and information about Live from
Here with Chris Thile, can be found at www.livefromhere.org.
