Closed like all other New York City music venues for a little more than a year, the Bowery Electric (327 Bowery) will rock again starting this Friday. Jesse Malin's four opening shows on April 2 and 3 were announced two weeks ago and sold out instantly. The venue today announced additional band dates through early May, plus multi-act memorial concerts honoring David Peel and Walter Lure.

COVID-era governmental regulations have impacted how concerts can be staged everywhere. Bars can no longer have standing room areas, so what was previously an open floor in front of the stage at the Bowery Electric will now be arranged for assigned seating at socially-distanced tables separated by clear partitions. Ticketholders must agree to temperature checks and contact tracing upon entry and then throughout the night wear masks when not seated at table. Social distancing must be maintained between customers, the performers, and other guests. The staff will clear and sanitize the main room between early and late shows.

In addition to the ticket charge, patrons should expect a $15 per person food and beverage minimum. The Bowery Electric will offer discounts to all guests who can provide proof of full vaccination two weeks after the final dose. The venue also will extend the discounts to guests who present a negative COVID test taken within three days of the show.

While many restaurants have hosted live music in recent weeks, the Bowery Electric is among New York City's first dedicated music rooms to reopen. City Winery NY will reopen on April 3 and the Bitter End will reopen on April 9.

Starting in the summer of 2020, the Bowery Electric hosted numerous pay-per-view live stream shows with no audience in the room. These performances included Malin's weekly series entitled The Fine Art of Self-Distancing. Some of the shows on the following list will have live audiences and also will be live streamed. Visit the Bowery Electric website for both in-person and live stream tickets.
