Ah, youth! I remember it well. As a teenager in 1969, I enjoyed the three Rolling Stones concerts at Madison Square Garden so much that I decided that in the future I wanted to be everywhere that the band played in the United States. In 1972, 1975 and part of 1978, I followed the Rolling Stones' concert tours of the United States from coast to coast.
In 1974, I became a prolific music journalist, writing for numerous publications. The Aquarian Weekly published my report of the first week of the Stones tour in 1975. I thank the new editor there for unearthing this article yesterday. I wrote it 46 years ago and had not seen it in many decades.
Rest in peace, Charlie Watts. You kept the beat and the heartbeat for the world's greatest rock and roll band for close to 60 years. You were the first Rolling Stone I ever met. We Stones fans always and forever will miss you greatly.
