Jesse Malin celebrated his birthday (actually on January 26) with a two-hour concert at le Poisson Rouge,
and the well-wishers included a host of his peers. Eugene Hutz of Gogol
Bordello, Felice Rosser of Faith NYC, and Catherine Popper of Puss N' Boots joined Malin and his band onstage for
one song each. Musicians who play the local circuit, including Amanda Cross, Drew Eckman and Rick Norman of Eck’s Men, Jill
Fiore, James Maddock, Adam Masterson, Cee Stephen, Drew Stone of Antidote NYHC, Alfonso
Velez and others, were scattered throughout the audience. Monte A.
Melnick, the Ramone’s road manager, also enjoyed the concert from the back of
the room.
Many of Malin’s fans are talented photographers. Gail
Hoffman, Ehud Lazin, Sachyn Mital and Jini Sachse generously offered their work for this photo-feature. This gallery of images from the performance celebrates not only Malin the musician, but also his fans.
