Until a few years ago, live Americana, bluegrass and country music was hard to find in New York City. Clubs like O’Lunney’s and the Lone Star Cafe came and went. As this music becomes more mainstream, new nightclubs like Lucinda’s, Wild Horses, Skinny Dennis, the Jalopy Theater, Cowgirl Seahorse and Desert 5 Spot are dedicating themselves exclusively to these genres. The clubs are attracting both musicians and clientele. This article celebrates the Americana, bluegrass and country music performances in New York City in just the past 10 days.
