Jesse Malin will re-launch live and in-venue ticketed concerts at a club he co-owns, the Bowery Electric, by performing four concerts with his band on April 2 and 3. Doors will open both nights at 6:30 p.m. for the early show and 9:15 p.m. for the late show. Tickets are on sale for $30, and all ticketholders will receive a signed Jesse Malin poster.

These will be Malin's first concerts before a live audience in more than a year. Shortly after the lockdown began a year ago, Malin launched a weekly live stream series, The Fine Art of Self-Distancing. Initially, Malin's live streams were free-admission solo performances live from his residence. They evolved to pre-taped pay-per-view full-band performances in the club Berlin plus interviews with his friends, including Lucinda Williams and Debbie Harry.

The Fine Art of Self-Distancing live streams will end with two upcoming shows. On March 18, the live stream will return to his apartment and feature a segment with the Ramones' tour manager, Monte A. Melnick. Malin's early show at the Bowery Electric on April 2 will be his final live stream performance.

"Playing music is something I need to do," Malin is quoted as saying on the Bowery Electric website. "Singing under those hot lights every night is a great exorcism."

COVID protocols will be observed. The maximum capacity for each of Malin's performances will be 50 ticketholders. Ticketholders will be seated at assigned tables separated by Plexiglas dividers, and social distancing will be maintained between seating areas, as well as between the seating areas and the stage.

The Bowery Electric will offer food and beverage discounts to all guests who provide confirmation of any of the following.

  • ·   completion of the Covid-19 vaccination series at least 14 days prior to the concert date, or
  • ·   a negative COVID test taken within three days of the concert date (rapid tests welcome!).

The Bowery Electric staff will clear the main room between Malin's early and late shows. After the shows, fans can enjoy a happy hour in the upstairs bar.

No other concerts have been announced yet for the Bowery Electric's main room or its upstairs Map Room.

Jesse Malin's Public Statement

Hey Rastas, I can’t thank you guys enough for the huge support this past year.

Many of us have lost people we love and some of us have lost or livelihoods.

It has been a very trying one, indeed, but doing these shows has really been a bright spot for me in the world, and I hope it has been for you as well.

It’s been great to connect somehow, to so many of you out there, in near and faraway places. It was a little scary and weird at first, but I have really enjoyed every single one of them. I feel like we all went through one of the heaviest times in our lives together.

I will never forget this.

Me, the band, the crew and Bob Strauss will be back to do some one-off live stream specials here and there, with the great folks at Rolling Live.

But for now, Thursday, March 18 in my apartment, and Friday, April 2 at Bowery Electric will be the final streams of The Fine Art of Self Distancing.

We will be playing some safe and distanced, real live shows with all the CDC guidelines, like the upcoming four shows in April.

I will be releasing a new single later this month on Wicked Cool Records, and a brand new album in September 2021.

Please keep the PMA, stay safe and be loving to each other. I will be seeing you all very soon!

Much love and gratitude from the bottom of my heart!

Always,

JM
